The first step toward becoming a Chartered Accountant is to complete the CA Foundation Course. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India administers the CA Foundation exams twice a year, in May and November (ICAI). Based on the eligibility criteria, a student who wants to become a CA can register for the ICAI Foundation course during or after class 12th. They must, however, pass their 12th grade with at least 50%. The CA Foundation course syllabus will now include accounting, business laws, mathematics, and economics. Students who have completed their class 12 exams as required by law or as recognized by the Central Government are eligible to apply for the CA Foundation. However, due to the delay in the release of Class 12th Central and State Boards Results, the ICAI has modified the eligibility criteria and allowed students who have not passed their 12th Exams to register provisionally. Students who have passed their Class 10th exams can now pre-register for the CA Foundation course. This preliminary admission will also be modulated or regularised only after the candidate has passed the Class 12th exams. Graduates and post-graduates who want to pursue a career in accounting can register for the CA Intermediate exam directly through the Direct Entry System. This means they are not required to take the CA Foundation Exam.
